Building a better world for women and girls.

What We Do

The Yellow Rose Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) with a mission to empower women and girls through service and advocacy. Zonta Club of Anchorage is dedicated to providing hands-on assistance, advocacy, and funds to build a better world for women and girls locally and globally. Our organization supports local scholarships, organizations, and projects.  We advocate for policy changes to aid and support women and girls, and projects and education to stop gender based violence. We hold a Choose Respect march annually to raise awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence.
We raise funds through our Accidental Gourmet cooking classes annually in February/March. We host smaller fundraisers throughout the year, seeking funds and donations of diapers, blankets, and coats.
One-third of the funds raised are donated to the Zonta International Foundation for Women. International funds support 32 Amelia Earhart Fellowships, the Zonta Women in Business Leadership Award, the Women in STEM Award, the Young Women in Leadership Award, Climate Empowerment projects in Madagascar, Mozambique, and South Sudan, ending child marriage initiatives, and Laaha, a virtual platform used to educate and support women and girls with sexual and reproductive health in crisis regions worldwide.

Zonta Club of Anchorage is one of 1,133 clubs in 63 countries of Zonta International, founded in 1919.

This is Zonta:

Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential.

In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men.

In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.

Local & Global Advocacy

Our contributions to Zonta Foundation for Women are part of the $5 million in project support for the 2020-2022 grant cycle to address the root causes of gender discrimination. These contributions will build upon the more than $45.9 million Zonta has already contributed to programs such as:

  • Adolescent Girls’ Health and Protection in Peru
  • Survivor-Centered Response to ensure that all women and girls in Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste live life free from violence
  • Let us Learn Madagascar to address education inequality – targeted toward adolescent girls
  • A global program to End Child Marriage.

Choose Respect & Zonta Says No

Since 2015 we have sponsored the Choose Respect March in Downtown Anchorage. Zonta says No to Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.

Support for Our Community

Each year, funds raised are awarded to local non-profits for specific needs and expand women and girls’ access to education, health care, economic opportunities and safe living conditions.

We believe in making the world a better place by empowering women.
